If your Operating System is not currently under a Maintenance contract with your vendor, we would not be at liberty to support you. Why not? Two Reasons: 1) We would be a convenient target if your system developed an issue while we were logged in, and 2) Running a business without an O.S. Maintenance contract in place is, in our opinion, financial Russian roulette. If you are unwilling to protect your data and software investment as well as your employees' livelihood, you would not be willing to pay our Rates. "A-la-carte" Clients have no Software Maintenance Agreement in place. But they can earn a Volume Incentive Discount of .2% times total billable hours, beginning with 1% for 5 hours to a maximum of 8% for 40+ hours per month. This Discount is applied automatically to the Time Billing Statement for the month in which it was earned. Volume Discounts may only be combined with Product Discounts. SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE AGREEMENTS You may be running a small business without a staff programmer and doing your own system administration on a shoestring budget. We are continually amazed at what some folks can do with duct tape and rubber bands. Or you may be relying on a "Lone Wolf" programmer for MultiValue / PICK software support or a solitary Value Added Reseller (VAR) for system administration support and asking yourself, "What happens to us if something happens to you?" SMA vs A-LA-CARTE Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) Clients provide MvCaTs with recurring receivables. We say Thank You by offering a wide variety of Discounts off our Remote Rate. And both the Remote & Onsite Rates in effect at signing will stay locked in for the full SMA term. They will not be affected by our Annual March 1st COLA. As an added bonus for our SMA clients, we deduct 8% from our Onsite Labor Rate for a savings of $14.00 per hour. The Rate charged under a Service Authorization will be controlled by the SMA in effect during the billing cycle in which services were performed. And we waive the Retainer Requirement (see table on Guarantee page). This means work can begin as soon as requested since there is no "jet lag" while we wait to receive a Retainer, and the paperwork is already on file. "A-la-carte" Clients have no SMA in place. After their New Client Signing Bonus expires, a Service Authorization must be signed for each support request and will be governed by our current Rates in effect during a given billing cycle. Quoted Rates are locked and not subject to our Annual COLA IF work begins on a Service Authorization (SA) within 2 weeks of the Client Signature Date AND billable work is requested and performed under that SA each consecutive month until the project is completed. Without an SMA, our Retainer Requirement must be satisfied (see table on Guarantee page). This means work cannot begin until we receive the Retainer and signed agreements. The cost of this quote is equivalent to 12 billable hours at nearly 21% Rate Discount. (If you have complex issues, more than one system, or multiple accounts to be previewed, additional hours may be needed.) There are 3 Distinct Advantages to performing a Software Preview: Advantage #1) it contains all the first steps normally included in a Full Service Quote so the Client would not be incurring additional expense; Advantage #2) it establishes a level of trust between the Client and the MvCaTs Manager; and Advantage #3) it provides MvCaTs the necessary insight to create a more specific Full Service Quote later on.
